Jennifer Lawrence Pregnant with Second Child as She Amplifies Women’s Rights Through Film
Jennifer Lawrence is expecting her second child with husband Cooke Maroney, as confirmed by her representative to Vogue. The Oscar-winning actor was recently spotted in Los Angeles, wearing a La Ligne t-shirt that revealed her growing baby bump. The couple, who married in October 2019 at Belcourt mansion in Newport, Rhode Island, are already parents to a two-year-old son, Cy.
The pregnancy news arrives during a pivotal time in Lawrence’s career. On October 25, she will debut Zurawski v Texas, a documentary she executive produced alongside Hillary Clinton. The film explores the real-life impact of Texas’ strict anti-abortion laws and will premiere in New York, Los Angeles, Austin, and San Antonio. According to director Maisie Crow, the release will also include free screenings in cities with abortion measures on state ballots, such as Charlotte and Phoenix.
Following this release, Lawrence will also see the Apple TV+ debut of Bread & Roses in late November. Co-produced with Malala Yousafzai, the documentary delves into the lives of Afghan women under Taliban rule.
Lawrence, best known for her roles in films like Silver Linings Playbook and The Hunger Games, has been expanding her presence behind the camera. Through her production company, Excellent Cadaver, she is increasingly focusing on documentaries that address women's rights and other social causes. Lawrence’s shift toward filmmaking was hinted at in a Vogue interview in October 2022, following the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade. She reflected on her personal experience with pregnancy and the dire implications of restrictive reproductive laws, saying, “I had a fortunate pregnancy, but I kept thinking: What if I was forced to do this?”
As Jennifer Lawrence welcomes her second child and advocates for women's rights, she continues to blend her personal journey with her passion for social justice.
