Lady Gaga Drops Haunting Teaser for Upcoming Single "Disease"

Lady Gaga

As fans eagerly await the release of Lady Gaga's new single “Disease,” the pop icon shared a spine-chilling video teaser on Tuesday, Oct. 22. The video offers a glimpse of what’s to come, setting an eerie tone for the track, which is set to drop on Oct. 25.

In the haunting clip, Gaga is seen frantically sprinting down a suburban street, wearing a short white dress, while a car follows close behind. Shot from inside the pursuing vehicle, the teaser makes viewers feel as if they’re the ones chasing her, while her long, black hair flows wildly in the wind. The unsettling atmosphere is enhanced by sparse, eerie piano notes, followed by a jarring percussive hit as the video ends. Gaga kept the teaser’s caption cryptic, simply writing, "DISEASE 10.25."

“Disease” is set to be the first single from Gaga’s highly anticipated seventh album. This release follows her Harlequin album in late September, which served as a companion piece to Joker: Folie à Deux. While it debuted at No. 20 on the Billboard 200, it marked Gaga's third No. 1 on the Billboard jazz charts.

The first hint of "Disease" arrived when Gaga posted a promotional poster on Instagram a day before the teaser’s release. The poster shows her in the same white dress, bent over the hood of a car, as if she's just been hit. Fans also discovered subtle clues leading up to the announcement: Gaga had hidden the title by lowercasing specific letters in her discography on Spotify and posted cryptic lyrics from the track on mysterious websites.

“Disease” is expected to deliver a darker, more cinematic soundscape, giving fans a first taste of what Gaga’s new era holds. Keep an eye out for the full release on Oct. 25—it’s bound to be a dramatic new chapter for the 13-time Grammy winner.
