Teddi Mellencamp Steps Away from RHOBH Due to Health Concerns
Teddi Mellencamp has confirmed she will not return to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, citing her ongoing battle with stage 4 cancer. The reality star opened up about her decision during an appearance on The Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast, sharing that her current health challenges make it impossible to fully commit to filming.“Yeah, no. I don’t have the bandwidth for it right now. I’m not somebody that likes to do something when I can’t be good at it,” Mellencamp said.
Why Mellencamp Is Putting Reality TV on Hold
The 44-year-old, who appeared on RHOBH from 2017 to 2020, explained that her cancer treatment—which includes immunotherapy and radiation—has impacted her speech and energy levels. She noted that the surgeries she’s undergone have sometimes made her words come out “a little stuttery,” and she worries this could be misinterpreted on the show.“Some days, I’m just stumbling word over word. And I would hate to be on a show like that and have somebody think that I was not being honest and really I was just struggling,” she said.
A Difficult But Necessary Decision
Mellencamp expressed that staying off RHOBH is best not only for her but for the rest of the cast. “I don’t think it would be the best for the cast, and it wouldn’t be the best for me right now,” she explained. Despite the difficult decision, she remains grateful for the progress she’s made and the support she’s received.Looking Ahead to Future TV Opportunities
While Mellencamp is stepping back from the Bravo series for now, she hasn’t ruled out future TV appearances. “I don’t know that I need to be on that particular show again. But I would love to be on TV in some capacity,” she said.Mellencamp continues to focus on her health and recovery, leaving the door open for potential projects once she feels ready.
