Hong Kong's Hi Bake Opens First U.S. Bakery in Beverly Hills

Popular Chinese Bakery Hi Bake Opens First U.S. Location in Beverly Hills

Hong Kong’s beloved bakery brand Hi Bake is making its American debut with the opening of its first U.S. storefront in Beverly Hills, officially launching with a soft opening on Thursday, July 17.

Located at 235 N. Canon Drive, the 1,500-square-foot space features indoor seating for 30 and a cozy patio area — a perfect setting to enjoy the brand’s signature mix of playful sweets and elevated savory items.

From China to California: A Global Leap

Founded 12 years ago, Hi Bake currently operates over 60 stores across China. Now, the bakery is expanding internationally, with Los Angeles chosen as the flagship U.S. market.

“Los Angeles has a lot of people passionate about food, and they love to see creative food. That’s why we want to come here,” said April Li, marketing director for Hi Bake.

Signature Treats with Global Appeal

The Beverly Hills location brings with it some of Hi Bake’s most buzzworthy creations — starting with the Tokyo Banana Roll, Tiger Skin Edition. This fluffy banana-shaped sponge cake filled with banana custard is wrapped in a golden exterior patterned to mimic tiger stripes — a viral favorite across Asia.

“These are really popular in China and Japan, and I think they will be popular here too,” Li added.

Other menu standouts include a range of unique savory croissants, such as:

Crispy sausage croissant Molten chocolate lava croissant Cheese croissant Wagyu beef croissant — a luxe take on the classic flaky pastry

A Sweet Start for U.S. Expansion

The Beverly Hills store represents the first step in Hi Bake’s broader international ambitions. If the local response mirrors the popularity the brand enjoys in Asia, more locations in the U.S. could be on the horizon.

For Los Angeles food lovers and fans of Asian pastries, Hi Bake offers a delicious new destination that blends traditional flavors with whimsical presentation — and it all starts in the heart of Beverly Hills.
