Unity and Local Business Take Center Stage at Gravitas with Mayor Sharona Nazarian
Community and Business Converge at Gravitas in Beverly Hills
On the evening of July 23, more than 150 guests gathered at Gravitas, a private membership club in Beverly Hills, to celebrate community, small business, and civic leadership. The event marked the latest chapter of Spotlight with Sharona, a mayoral initiative by Beverly Hills Mayor Sharona Nazarian.Nazarian, who launched the initiative to elevate local businesses during her one-year term, spoke passionately about the importance of unity — a theme she says guides her time in office.
Mayor Nazarian’s Vision: Unity Across All Sectors
“My theme for this year is unity,” Nazarian shared during her remarks. “It’s about bringing our community together, from all walks of life — residents, businesses, cultures, and more. That’s why tonight is so special. We’re celebrating our local businesses and the people behind them.”Gravitas proved to be a fitting location for the evening’s event. Located on North Camden Drive, the exclusive club spans two levels and features a luxurious layout including private lounges, conference rooms, a podcast studio, and a lush open-air garden dining area with a retractable roof and heated floor.
Gravitas: A New Beverly Hills Staple
Gravitas offers members an array of elite amenities, including a private elevator entrance, chauffeur services, and 375 climate-controlled wine lockers housed in a converted Wells Fargo vault now known as “the Vault.” Guests at the event enjoyed curated hors d’oeuvres, charcuterie, and drinks from the club’s full-service bar.Seth Glassman, managing partner at Gravitas, emphasized the value of partnering with the city and praised Mayor Nazarian for her support.
“This is really special,” Glassman said. “The mayor has been so good to us, and the city itself has made our first year an incredible experience. We couldn’t have done it without their help.”
He added that the idea for Gravitas came from noticing the absence of members-only clubs in a city known for exclusivity and luxury.
“You’ve got the best hotels, shopping, and dining in just a half-mile radius,” said Glassman. “We thought if we did it right, in the heart of the Golden Triangle, people would respond — and they have.”
Spotlighting Upcoming Civic Engagement
Mayor Nazarian also used the opportunity to promote upcoming community events. National Night Out, an annual evening of public safety awareness and community connection, is scheduled for August 5. Later that week, Coffee and Beats, hosted by the city’s young adult initiative, will take place on August 10, featuring music from DJ Anton Khabbaz and coffee from Alfred’s Coffee.Nazarian reiterated the importance of investing in local enterprise. “When our businesses succeed, we all benefit. It’s a cycle that strengthens the city and supports our overall quality of life,” she said.
Looking Ahead: More Spotlights on Local Business
The next Spotlight with Sharona is set for September 10 on South Beverly Drive, where businesses along several blocks will be featured in another evening of celebration and community connection. As Gravitas continues to make its mark and Beverly Hills reaffirms its commitment to supporting small businesses, the evening served as a reminder of how unity and enterprise work hand-in-hand to shape a thriving city.
